Gold Dust

If you don't know it by now, there is something magical that occurs a little short of an hour before the sun slips away into tomorrow:  That which we all know as 'The GOLDEN HOUR.'  It's a bewitching and magical fifty minutes or so of the most dreaming, hazy and romantic light that you could ever imagine and it's a photographers DREAM.  When you gaze up at a bright blue and cloudless sky on a sunny afternoon in April you never imagine that it could get any better.  But it does.  Our dear and sweet GOLDEN HOUR has been falling ideally a little before dinner is made and with just enough time to ride away the days trouble after work.  I can't bear to ignore it. Everything else is abandoned just so i can soak it all up.  Because they're rare you know, and as certain as our weather isn't too.  And if you are just a moment too late than all is lost…

The bright and vivid greens of the grasses, wild flowers and new leaves softens so slightly.  Each little part of everywhere the light touches CATCHES a soft amber glow that could be mistaken for an Autumnal glow were it not for the singing birds, the cotton candy covered cherry blossom trees and the warmer evening air that tickles against your skin.  The sky holds its blue; but fades gently towards the horizon in an orange ombre dip dye of DELIGHT and around each corner it's more beautiful than the last.
The scent of the day DEEPENS:  All that was sweet, light and fresh becomes denser, richer and heady.  The air is filled with scent of wild garlic, damp grass and an early evening breeze carries the sunshine softly down to the horizon.
A GOLDEN HOUR can't be rushed you see.  It must be enjoyed slowly and savoured greatly for the small amount of time that you are lucky enough to bathe in its magical GOLD DUST glow.  It must be breathed in slowly and deeply; soaked up and entirely and completely appreciated like it could be the very last.  Because it's one of natures most magnificent and beautiful moments and you need nothing to get out there and find your very own.
